La Folía (Spanish), or Follies (English), also known as folies d'Espagne (French), La Follia (Italian), and Folia (Portuguese), is one of the oldest remembered European musical themes or primary material, generally melodic, of a composition, on record. The theme exists in two versions, referred to as early and late folias, the earlier being faster.

Main focus is, how a world in crisis responds to a historical musical theme, having had its origin in Portugal or Spain. By implementing color, figurative and abstract notions on this subject, a new painting series responds to this musical theme with selected  contemporary follies seen from the future.
 
The work series is structured like a narrative and juxtaposed in the exhibition space as 3 (4) sub-, or main visual themes:



I: space exploration (s) : starship trooper 
is pointing to a not so distant future in space looking back unto the present folly unfolding.
 
II: false idols / the male hero / Blinky / Clint
in the future, the male (or female) hero may be used for entertainment purposes, to justify political and social imbalances.

III: online seductions / the body
in the future, online seductions, like porn sites, may stir addictions and prevent real experiences.

IV: summer in the city as epilogue / prologue
vintage stories may conceal social and environmental clashes in the not so distant future.
